I've always wanted to learn how to make these cute cloth buttons. The talented Jaime @ Stitch2buttercups shows you how to make them.

But don't stop at the button, she make magnents and bookmarks out of them too!

Jewelry Frame Pedestal

Tweet This
I love these Jewelry Frames being done around in blogland lately. But I wanted something I could set on my dresser instead of hanging on the wall.

So I decided to make one with a pedestal.

 Here's what I did...
1) You need a frame, some type of pedestal and a base

This pedestal I got at a home improvement store in the stair railing isle. The base I got a craft store. The frame I just got at the DI.

2) Connect the pedestal to the base using any type of wood glue. (Not shown: my pedestal had a screw at the bottom so I just drilled a hole in the center of the base with a drill bit then twisted the pedestal on).

3) A few coats of spray paint

4) You can add some nails if you want to hang some bracelets. (It's a little short for necklaces at the bottom). I also added a nail at each of the top corners to hang some longer necklaces.

5) Spray paint some more as needed
6) Let  it dry

7) Optional: if your pedestal is thicker and your frame is thinner you can drill into the pedestal to hold the frame. This will also give it better support.
Husbands are nice for this kind of stuff

Make it just wide enough and deep enough for your frame to fit nice and snug.

8) You will now need some type of wire screen mesh. This is just aluminum window screening.

9) Cut out to fit your frame with scissors.

10) Place in frame as snug as you can get. Trim as needed until it's not so flimsy.
11) Hot glue edges and place screen in frame.

12) You can sand or distress the edges if you like.
13) Using wood glue (or any type of glue that's good for wood) glue the frame to the pedestal and let dry.

Just a quick share on where I like to get some supplies: Harbor Freight Tools is a great and inexpensive place to buy tools, especially for small home projects.

Perfect for crafting!

14) Now go hang your jewelry!

Just Added***

Here some I made in different colors too!

Here's a great solution for organizing and storing toys from Clean Mama.

I LOVE lables you can find some here or here. The pictures are perfect for little ones who can't read but can help put toys away.

Happy Earth Day! Celebrate by doing your part!

Tweet This
Are you celebrating Earth Day by doing your part?
Here's one little example I do to help keep the Earth a little Greener.

The city that I live in doesn't provide recycle bins that they pick up at your house.

So I got this big green bin to help me out.

It itself is made of recycled material.

I get lots of newspapers for my coupons and they pile up quick. (Even just recycling junk mail and other papers you'd be surprised how much you get!)

Once a month I take a huge load to my city building for recycling.

I used to use this...
Not as cute.

I needed something larger (and cuter).
Large enough to fit a lot of papers, and small enough to fit in the backseat of my car.
And added some vinyl for a label like I always do.

Doesn't the green color just screams RECYCLE!

I think I'll do it to these two bins as well...
A red bin for RECYCLE {plastic}

and a
blue bin for RECYCLE {glass}

Then they'll be cute and colorful together!

However I don't think I need these as large so I'll do these in smaller bins.

And if you're looking for more fun ways to do your part you need to check out Lisa's blog.

It's chuck full of fun DIY upcycled crafts and Green tips!

PVC Pipe for Curtain Rods

Tweet This
This is brilliant using PVC pipes for curtain rods.

Rods we know can be costly and extra long ones are sometimes hard to find. I love this solution from Sarah at A Little of This, a Little of That.

Decor-ganizing The Top Of My Nightstand: Part Two

Tweet This

Okay I left off with putting a
cute label on my Medicine Box.

 here's Part One

I wanted it to match this...

I still needed something to organize my books

I got this at the DI for 2 bucks!

First I sanded it down a little.

Then spray painted it.

And roughed up some edges.

Next added some scrapbook paper.

Used some spray glue.

Then let it dry.

Now it goes together nicely on my nightstand.

Everything I need is right here!
