I got a chest freezer last spring and LOVE it!
But it's so easy for food to get lost in a chest freezer.
And I can't really remember what's in it a lot of the time.
(I'm still trying to figure a better system of organizing it inside. Any suggestions?).
But to help me I have a little Freezer Inventory Whiteboard that helps me keep track at a glance.
Found this board on a clearance for $5. It goes perfect with my kitchen colors (even though it's in the garage by my freezer ;p ).
Then when I pull something out, I just wipe the notch mark off with a swipe of my finger.
Nice.

You keep cream cheese in your freezer? I've tried that but the texture gets ruined.
ReplyDeleteLesley T,
ReplyDeleteIf I let it thaw completely in the refrigerator it doesn't seem too bad. But I usually use cream cheese in recipes that wants me to cook or whip it.
Now if I was doing something like a cheese ball I wouldn't use a frozen one because I agree the texture does fall apart more after freezing.
(And don't ever thaw it in the microwave! Just speaking from experience lol).
Get dishpans-you know the rubbermaid square plastic containers. You can put all veggies in one, lunch meat in one, cheese in one, etc. Then just move the whole container around. They will sit nicely on top of each other.
ReplyDeletePerfect organizing tip!

ReplyDeletePlastic dishpans does sound like a good idea. Not too expensive either. Thanks!
I do this and I also write ideas of what to do with the things in there next to it.
ReplyDeleteWith this in mind, here are some of the places where you can find the following types of chest freezers.
