I'm so excited to do my first guest post!
Jaime @ Stitch2Buttercups is a new craft blog that I can't get enough of!
It's packed full of great tutorials like
to name just a few. You really should check these out.
But I was not only drawn to her crafts but to her compassion and vigor!
I asked her to do a guest post tutorial and she gladly accepted.
First of all, Thank You Heather for asking me to
share my pacifier clip tutorial with Y'all!
This is my first guest post, and I'm probably more excited than I should be. :-)
Okay, a little bit about me. After just thinking about it for 5 or 6 months, I finally started my blog in February of this year.
Okay, a little bit about me. After just thinking about it for 5 or 6 months, I finally started my blog in February of this year.
I love the idea of sharing projects, recipes and my thoughts (crazy as they may be sometimes!) with others that enjoy some of the same things.
I grew up on a small island off of the coast of Maine, and now I live in West TX.
Culture shock!
I have 2 wonderful kids. My son is 8. He is autistic, and he inspires me
every single day with his progress and determination.
My daughter is 3, and a ball of energy! She is more outgoing at 3 than I've ever been, and we are still struggling with the thought of parting with her pacifiers.
They are my "2 Buttercups" and the threads of our life and love for each other "stitch" it all together.
I am constantly trying new crafts. I think I may be addicted. I'm a self-taught knitter, crocheter and sew-er. My mom tells me often that she doesn't know where my "creativity gene" comes from since she doesn't have a creative bone in her body (it's not true...her garden is a masterpiece).
Alright, enough about me. :-) I made these pacifier clips at the request of a friend. She was expecting another precious baby boy at the time, and he arrived safely a few days ago! I had so much fun making them, that I just had to try a few girly ones as well.
Pacifier Clips

Pacifier Clips
Paci Clips. I sure do wish that I had had a few of these when Bugaboo and Baby Girl were younger. If I thought she wouldn't pull it off and chase the dog with it, I'd try it on Baby Girl now. She is constantly dropping her pacifier.....or just seeing how far she can throw it. A friend that is due the end of this month, asked me if I could make a few for her new arrival, so this is what I came up with.
What You'll Need:7/8" ribbon (16" lengths for each clip.. I got mine from All About Ribbon)
1" Suspender Clips (I got mine at Everything Ribbons in the pacifier supplies section)
Velcro
Scissors
Sewing Machine & Thread
Straight Pins
Now for the fun to begin! :-)
Cut your ribbon into 16" lengths. With the right side facing down, and the suspender clip upside down, slide one end of your ribbon through the slot at the end of the clip.

Ribbon and clip right sides down, and putting the end of the ribbon through the slot.

Next, fold the end of the ribbon down about half an inch, and then fold it down again, about an inch, pin it in place, and using a zig-zag stitch, sew it in place.

The end folded over once at the end, and then folded over again and pinned in place.
Next, fold down the other end of the ribbon, about half an inch, and using the zig-zag stitch, sew it in place. This keeps the end from fraying.

Fold the same end down again, about 3/4 to 1 inch, take the hook side of your Velcro, cut to a 1 inch length, and lay that on top of the folded down end. I trimmed the edges of the Velcro, because it was about as wide as the ribbon.
Velcro with the edges trimmed off.
After sewing the end with the Velcro in place, measure about 2 inches down from the bottom of the Velcro, and place the Loop side of your Velcro there, and stitch in place. Please make sure to back stitch on each part of this project,
to make sure everything is securely sewn in place.

Finished pacifier clip.
That's it! You're done! Finished length is approximately 12". This is a quick and easy project. Great for gifts, or for your own little one. There's so much ribbon to choose from in craft land, that the possibilities are almost endless. I know I say this a lot, but if any part of my explanation is confusing, please let me know. I can always add more photos if needed. I am a visual learner, so I love lots of photos!

Jaime, these are SO cute! We recently took my little girls pacifier away, but I almost want to give it back to her just so I can have an excuse to make one of these...almost! Great job and congrats on your first guest post!!!

Angela, thank you! I'm in the process of trying to take away my daughters pacifier. Not easy!
ReplyDeleteHeather, thanks again for asking me to guest post! :-)
