So I'm so guilty of having a few of these laying around.
And then using it again and again 'til they reak! I don't even want to know what little micro colonies are being established on them.
I heard a good tip from a sweet old lady I wanna try. She said she replaced all of her hand towels and dish rags to white ones. Then she'll wash and bleach them in hot water so they stay nice and white and sanitized.
Then to use a new fresh one everyday. (So you will want to get a bunch of them. I think you can get a huge pack from Sam's Club or Costco).
Well I'm off to find my old retired dish rags and then off to the store to get new white ones.

Yes! We made the switch recently and it has made a world of difference. I was sick of my hubby ruining my cute kitchen towels with bleach &/or funk from our cast iron cookware. (After 10 years he still can't grasp that there is such a thing as "good" kitchen linens? Boys, LoL.) The white towels I found are actually called "shop towels" and they are found in the automotive section of the box stores. You can get a whole bunch for super cheap, and they look great rolled up in a basket on the kitchen counter. They aren't the most um, luxurious quality but at that price we're able to rotate them out to the garden shed/garage/cleaning supply closet without any guilt. :-)
